Robinson Elementary School

Also known as George R. Robinson Elementary School
1930
Updated July 2026
History

Robinson is Keysor's sister school — the second of the two elementaries funded by Kirkwood's $250,000 bond issue of 1929, both designed by William B. Ittner and both opened in the fall of 1930, at opposite ends of the district. It was named for George R. Robinson, a co-founder of the Ralston Danforth Commission Co., remembered for his philanthropy and for establishing youth organizations in Kirkwood. The building has grown with its district ever since — additions in 1937, 1949, 1953, 1987, and 2010, and a pre-school classroom added in 2014 — and remains in continuous service as a Kirkwood School District elementary, now serving pre-K through fifth grade.
