A four-story red brick corner building with a long side on Eleventh Street. Its upper windows were tall and round-arched, set in even rows, with stone quoins at the corner and a deep bracketed cornice along the top. At street level, large display windows between iron columns ran around the corner under canvas awnings, and the walls were banded with signs for the pianos sold inside.
P. E. Conroy's piano business was at 1100 Olive, on the southwest corner of Eleventh Street, by 1906, and the Conroy Piano Company was incorporated in Missouri in 1905 with $100,000 in capital and members of the Conroy family as officers. The 1909 Sanborn map shows a four-story building, 52 feet on Olive, with a piano repair shop on the top floor. By 1914 the company billed itself as "the piano house of St. Louis" and had a second store in East St. Louis. Around 1915 its corner was hung with signs for Conroy's player pianos and for A. B. Chase, Emerson and Knabe pianos, with the P. A. Starck piano store and Goldman Bros. Furniture next door to the west. Conroy was still at 1100 Olive in the mid-1920s, when P. E. Conroy also headed a Conroy Radio Corporation. The building and its neighbor at 1102 are gone, and the corner is a parking lot.
