Hanley Hills

Hanley Hills is a small residential village in northern St. Louis County, one of the compact municipalities that took shape across the Normandy area as St. Louis spread west in the early twentieth century. Barely a third of a square mile, it takes its name from Hanley Road, the old county road that runs through it, and lies just north of Page Avenue. Its streets are lined with modest pre- and post-war brick homes on tidy lots — an unpretentious inner-ring suburb rather than a planned showpiece. The village's civic anchor is George Washington School, a 1930 William B. Ittner design that still serves neighborhood children through the Normandy Schools Collaborative.
