Webster School (1866)

ca. 1866 – ca. 1908
Updated July 2026
History

The second Webster School, built in 1866 per the Board's Table I of January 1869, stood at Eleventh near Clinton in Old North St. Louis — the address later recorded as 2127 Eleventh. When William B. Ittner's new Webster School rose at the same address in 1907, the 1866 building was not retired: Missouri Historical Society photographs dated to the 1940s-50s show it still in use beside its replacement, the same decades-long coexistence documented at the Clinton Schools on Grattan Street. Its demolition date is unconfirmed.
