History
The first Webster School, built in 1853 per the Board's Table I of January 1869, which lists it as "Webster (old)" — still operating with twelve teachers even after its 1866 successor opened. A Missouri Historical Society photograph of about 1878 places it at "Twelfth Street and Jefferson Avenue" — a corner that does not exist on the modern map, because those streets never cross today; the label almost certainly preserves an 1850s street name erased in the city's later renaming campaigns. Its exact site and demolition date are unconfirmed.
