Maull Spaghetti Company Building
A four-story red brick factory on a raised basement of rough-faced limestone, twelve bays wide on St. Louis Avenue. The three-bay end sections rise into gabled parapets, each with a small arched vent, and between them a corbelled brick cornice runs under two small rooftop monitors. A round-arched entrance at the center holds a multipane fanlight over green double doors. Segmental-arched windows sit in even rows under brick arches, with arched basement openings behind grilles below. The long 13th Street side repeats the pattern across about thirteen bays, with an iron fire escape, many windows boarded, and several bricked-in arches at the top floor. A lower brick wing extends from the rear.
Built ca. 1907 as a new manufacturing plant for Maull’s Spaghetti Co., at the corner of St. Louis Avenue and 13th Street. The plant later passed to Faust Pasta after Faust bought Maull’s. In the 1970s the building was used for furniture storage, and for about 30 years after that it held a printing and fulfillment business, Jaymar Companies. It stood vacant by the 2010s. Ken Kranzberg and the Old North St. Louis Restoration Group later acquired it with plans to convert it to apartments.
