The Hutcheson Arms is an 11-story apartment tower on South Grand Boulevard in the Shaw neighborhood, built ca. 1925 and a rare example of a mid-rise residential tower along this stretch of Grand. St. Louis Patina describes it as a building with "fascinating mixtures of style" — Art Deco elements blended with a more eclectic decorative scheme, with two-tone glazed brick patterning that creates intricate surface texture. The building retains original features including a manual elevator with an inner gate, hardwood floors, and crown molding. It stands out as one of the few apartment towers on South Grand, a boulevard that once had streetcar service and a much more active pedestrian life. It is currently managed alongside the companion Saum building at 1919 S. Grand as "Hutch and Saum."
