The Humboldt Building is a six-story brown brick office block on the corner of Grand Boulevard and Washington Avenue, beside the Fox Theatre. Its upper floors are plainly laid in brick with regularly spaced windows; the top story is set apart by recessed brick-framed panels carrying carved stone medallions of women's heads, above a foliate stone belt course hung with scrolled brackets. The two-story storefront base is sheathed in dark green-and-black veined marble, and the main entrance is framed by the same marble, with HUMBOLDT BUILDING and the number 539 lettered in bronze on a panel above the doors.
The Humboldt Building is a six-story office building at 539 North Grand Boulevard, at the corner of Washington Avenue and beside the Fox Theatre in Grand Center. It dates to the same early-twentieth-century period as its Grand Center neighbors the Metropolitan Building and the Medinah Temple. Its ground floor now serves the Fox Theatre.
